Remember when I said all that stuff like, "I've got a big surprise!" and "Things are gonna change!" And then nothing changed?
This, finally, is the big surprise, and I hope it's worth the wait!
The new GWS site was brilliantly designed by the one and only
Tyler Martin. While it's basically everything I've ever wanted, I'd really like to hear your feedback. I've still got a few tweaks to make myself, but consider this Girls With Slingshots 2.0.
After years of waiting, you finally have an
RSS feed! And the
cast page is updated (yes, poor neglected Zach is finally on it), the
about page no longer features a photo of Danielle circa 2005, and there's even a comments section below the blog (for now, assuming everyone behaves).
For the time being, while the store (and Book #5!) are being tweaked, the
store button leads you to my Etsy shop, and the
extras button will lead to a gallery of old GWS wallpapers you can download for a donation of your choice.
Okay, so why the change now? The other half of the surprise is that I've joined the
Blind Ferret family (you can thank them for the site upgrade!) and in addition to many things, they'll be handling my merchandise from now on. We've got a few items I'm really excited about in the works, although for now our main focus is Book 5. I'll also be sitting with the guys at a few conventions that I'd otherwise not have attended (look to your right, the 2011 schedule is up early!).
The little things I sell from home - original art, prints and small personalized items - will still be packed and shipped by yours truly, but anything that would have otherwise driven me mad (packing books, ugh!) will be handled professionally by their team. This means that your books will no longer have cat hair in them when they arrive to you.
I hope you like our new home, and I apologize that it didn't come sooner than this! You've deserved it for years; you guys are the best readers by far, and I'm really grateful that you've patiently visited the site for so long without the convenience of an RSS feed. Thank you so much for sticking around!
(Also, yes, Smudge was actually sitting in my lap the whole time I was drawing today's art! So adorable.)
Anyway, look around, and tell me what you think. I'll be checking the comments. Just behave and be nice, and nobody will get hurt. ;)
Much love,
danielle
